Comprehensive Eye Exams
Sanders Eye Care offers comprehensive eye examinations. We check your vision for signs of refractive (eyeglass and/or contact lens prescription) changes. In addition, we perform a dilated exam to check for other problems that can result from many medications and chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, and arthritis.
Optical Services
Contact Lenses: At Sanders Eye Care, we offer an extensive range of contact lenses to fit your needs. These include daily disposable, extended wear, bifocals, and toric lenses, which correct for astigmatism. Rigid gas permeable lenses are also available depending on the needs of our patients. In addition, corneal topography is performed to measure any changes in the cornea.
Frames and Lenses: We offer a wide variety of frames including prescription sunglasses for everyone from infants to adults. We also offer any number of lens options from polarized sunglasses to progressive bifocal lenses.
Pediatric Eye Care
Just because your child is not complaining does not mean there are not potential developmental problems with their eyes. At Sanders Eye Care we support the guidelines established by the American Optometric Association (AOA Link) that recommend your child’s first eye examination at SIX MONTHS of age followed by a second examination at age 3.
We believe in those guidelines so much that we support the InfantSee Program.
Treatment of Eye Disease
Glaucoma: Glaucoma is a disease in which the optic nerve is damage causing loss of peripheral vision. One known cause is elevated pressure inside the eyes, which can be monitored with a simple test in the office. If the pressure is elevated, it can be lowered with various treatments including prescription eye drops.
Macular degeneration (AMD): The macula is a specialized area inside the eye that is responsible for the fine details of your vision as well as your color vision. Some of the main risk factors for AMD include heredity, age and damage from ultraviolet light, and smoking. We work with surgeons and low vision specialists to treat and rehabilitate any patients that may suffer damage from AMD.
Dry Eye/Allergies: Dry eyes and/or allergies affect many of us on everyday. What most people do not realize is there are very effective treatments for both. Several quick tests performed in-office can help determine what treatment will best reduce those symptoms for you.
Diabetic Eye Disease: Diabetes is a metabolic disorder that can affect many areas of the body, the eyes in particular. Damage from diabetes occurs when blood sugar levels are poorly controlled, often resulting in blood vessels that leak in areas such as the retina of the eye. This is evaluated during the dilated portion of your eye exam.
Refractive surgery
LASIK, PRK, ICL, and INTAC pre-operative examinations are performed in our office. In addition, once the surgery is performed, patients can return to our office for their post-operative care.
